Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Project

Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Project (MSOAP)

Overview

MSOAP was established in 2002 to improve the access of rural and remote communities to medical specialists outreach services by complimenting outreach specialist services provided by State and Northern Territory governments.  Services are targeted to areas of need and are determined in consultation with an advisory forum that is representative of an appropriate range of stake holders.  The ARIA (Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia) classification system provides a guide to where MSOAP services can be provided.

Participating specialists may receive funding support for administrative costs associated with the delivery of outreach services, such as the organisation of appointments, processing of correspondence, follow up with patients, travel costs, accommodation, meals and incidentals.

Services Provided Under MSOAP

Specialists, medical professionals, or other parties interested in providing an outreach specialist service can contact CWDGP to establish if the proposed service meets eligibility criteria.
